Real World Ocaml covers a lot of things and is really good, however it is very deep.

For beginners I’d recommend:
A book for the very beginners is John’s book: Ocaml from the very beginning.
which explains things nicely and has good exercises.

Another option is Hickey’s book:

which is also great.
(If you know how to program in general this might be a good choice,
but it works if you don’t, too)
