--001a114745c4f2084305475aa79e Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Hey Martin, Yeah, I kind of have the feeling that most OCaml programmers use Unix or Linux ( or maybe Mac, but that's really a flavor of Unix ) and C# and F# are mainly used to develop applications for Windows, etc. BUT.... I'm running mono on my Ubuntu machine and so far it works pretty well. I don't know all the details, but basically mono allows me to run any file having the .exe extension, which of course is the extension for executable files in Windows. OCaml is an awesome language and I love it, BUT F# has the advantage of being a much better documented language than OCaml. This is where OCaml really suffers the most. I don't blame the language as much as I blame the community that supports the language. Not sure about the French venue, but I know that there's just a handful of good books about OCaml in English. There are many good books about F# in English however, and to me that's a big advantage. A programming language can be the best language in the world, but without good documentation the language won't be available to that many people. This is also an advantage of Haskell. Haskell has MANY books, articles, YouTube tutorials, etc, etc. OCaml needs more of these from the people who have really mastered the language.
