The way this works is similar to the general model of linking for OCaml
tools: when you link modules, its code will be executed, but your users
still need to have the compiled interface files (.cmi) "in scope" (in the
set of included directories) for their code using this module to
type-check. I suppose this is why it was not directly documented.

That said, it could be useful to point out, in the documentation of
ocamlmktop's -I option, that this option does not lift the requirement for
users to also pass -I flags to the new toplevel.

Note that you can also embed logic in a project-local .ocamlinit file:

  #directory "subdirectory";;

which will be executed upon toplevel startup in that directory. (This can
be more flexible than a wrapper around the toplevel invocation, as for
example it lets you install pretty-printers for your datatypes.)
