Jacques has worked towards that and you can find his changes in the
git repository.

I haven't had time to properly look at it but I believe that "support
DESTDIR with findlib-install" (58e15c3a) can cause issues with at
least godi because it relies specific semantics (which is not a big
surprise considering godi's author is also ocamlfind's author). That
could be an issue for you too (the code in git is obviously
development code and you should double-check the changes).

I'll post a follow-up with more details soon (friday or sunday).
