That's a good idea... the only thing I'm doing with that part of the script, trying to figure out if the machine (laptop) is in the network (those are a lot out in the field) and then copy some files to the target. So I could do that check also with a resolve instead of a ping...

(oh, and I have no idea, what is stored behind that DNS alias... I guess it's somewhat dynamic to prevent failure of the whole DFS if only one host goes down)
