MacOS X builds of certain modules

I wanted to use Data::UUID::LibUUID on MacOS (10.8.2), but it fails under 'cpan' and manual builds:

Anyone know what a good workaround for this is?

I asked on the IRC channel (freenode) #macosxdev but didn't get a response.
