Hello Mike et al.,

How are you? Thank you for your reply. I mainly want the PAUSE account to practice writing modules and hopefully develop my own to process files and directories. It’s not that I have my Perl code ready to go, but it’s a little sad that it takes ‘up to three weeks’ to get a PAUSE account. I love the beauty and elegance of Perl, but we as a community have to respond to such basic requests much faster. Now I see one of the reasons Perl lost to Python.

William,

Take the initiative in your own hands. What I do is I try to use Perl as an auxiliary language to perform additional programming tasks like launching computing jobs on a supercomputer, pre-processing or post-processing files and updating my MacPorts system. You will soon realise that there are plenty of such tasks.

Thank you and have a healthy, successful and productive New Year 2024 ahead!

Maxim

However, I still haven’t received any reply. Am I doing something wrong? Shall I be more patient or is the advice in the book no longer relevant? Please let me know. Thank you and have a good day ahead!
