Turning Perl Code in to C++ I Think I've found what I needed.

After doing more searching, what I appear to need is perlembed.  It's
been around since early versions of perl 5 and the systems 









in
question will be running perl5.36.  One puts a perl interpreter
in to the C source and that should enable what I was asking
about.  Sorry to waste everybody's time.
