While it is the list owner's prerogative, it is not unreasonable to
ask the question.

In all fairness, you should also cite
http://www.metasystema.net/essays/reply-to.mhtml which makes the contrary
case that Reply-to munging, far from being harmful, has positive value
in certain circumstances -- circumstances which may obtain in this case.

The question is certainly ripe for contentiousness, but it is unreasonable
to attempt to squash discussion.

Oh, and I agree with the original querent. The current setting will be
responsible for those to whom I reply likely getting my reply twice.
