This Week on perl5-porters - 15-21 September 2008
=================================================

This is sort of like one of those useless Windows alert boxes that pop up
to tell you something perfectly normal has happened and you should do
nothing. "A USB device was safely removed!" Yes, thank you, I just
removed it. It's this sort of hand-wringing user interface design ("but
the user might not have expected that USB device to be removed, they
should be told so they can maybe, possibly do something!") that I'd like
Perl to avoid. -- Michael G. Schwern, wanting numeric upgrades to JFDI.

(Please take note of the date. I'm posting the backlog of summaries after
having encountered problems trying to post them last month).

[0]olegm writes "The Minneapolis Perl Mongers are organizing a one-day
Perl workshop in Minneapolis on February 07, 2009, and I hope some of you
can attend. We're also working on a hackathon the day after and a Perl
class taught by Brian d Foy of Stonehenge Consulting on the day before.
These extras will be announced on our website once we have more details.
Our site is at [1]http://www.frozen-perl.org/

If you are a student, you'll be eligible for the super-cheap rates for
the Workshop ($10 early bird for the workshop).

We've also opened our call for speakers, and we'd love to have your
submissions. You can view the CFS at
[2]http://www.frozen-perl.org/mpw2009/cfs.html"
