template::simple rc1

hi all,

i have gotten template::simple to a prerelease state. it has all of the
required features coded, tested and documented. i don't want to mung it
much more before i release it. as you can read the todo list is pretty
long and i expect the module to grow a bit but i hope to keep even that
simple. so try it out, flame away, send in more tests, doc patches,
todos, etc. i am aiming to release it in few days unless the sky rains
down patches or doc edits.
