Hi all, your 2004 'last' probably doesn't produce the same output as his 1991 'last'. I may be wrong, but $_ x= should just duplicate $_ the number of times on the rhs, which is 0 or 1. That is, it leaves $_ unchanged, or it sets it to "". That is, the line acts as a grep. Replacing (.*) by (..:..) would make $1 and $2 represent hours w/ last-2004. The other conditions in the rhs I don't grok. Hth, Etienne PS : Wasn't this code commented?
