I think I may have a solution: I've managed to bend ExtUtils::MakeMaker to my
will, so I've reinstated the make/make install route.  The Module::Build
method is also available, as a migration path.

Can I get a copy of this version to you to let me know if it works before I
release it into the wild?  I've released 2.5 versions in the last week, I'd
rather test first... :-)
