Before I do that, I have another question.

I normally install and update MySQL from source manually whenever the new version is released. Now, if I install DBD-mysql from the Ubuntu Repository rather than from the source, would it cause any problems with the latest version of MySQL?

Well, it doesn't seem like that DBI installation is even doing
anything.  But yes, you should remove it, just to get rid of
the clutter.  I would just run this:

rm -r /root/perl5

Then install DBI and DBD-mysql from your distro's packaging system.
They'll be put in the correct place (one of the perl locations under
/usr/share or /usr/lib), and then spamassassin and the others will be
able to use them.
