RE: String truncated to 255 chars using DBD::Sybase with MSSQL

I guess it could do this automatically, but that's not a good idea as the 
other side might not be able to support TDS 8.

So the better solution is to put this in the freetds.conf file.

You're right.  If I do

    $ENV{TDSVER} = '8.0';

before connecting to the database then strings are not truncated.

Would it be possible for DBD::Sybase to somehow set this automatically? It 
would be better for things to work out of the box.  But I don't know what 
the effect would be when connecting to Sybase, or when using Sybase ctlib 
instead of freetds.
