you can do this with a filter:
my $match = qr/(<[Tt][Mm][Pp][Ll]_[^>]+)\/>/;
my $filter = sub {
my $text_ref = shift;
$$text_ref =~ s/$match/$1>/g;
};
$match is the regex used to find <TMPL_xxx ... /> tags.
Then instantiate H::T with the 'filter' option.
