Using Mail::Audit with Maildir?

I see Mail::Audit supports Maildir however what I don't know is exactly 
how and what the permissions need to be in order to my perlscript to be 
able to write to a Maildir directory that's not under my $HOME

So for folks using Mail::Audit with Maildir with qmail do you currently 
have your Maildir under your own $HOME?

My domain is now hosted on a Plex box and currently Maildir is under 
mailnames outside of my $HOME
the I have not read/write access to my domain maildir directory.
