symlinks are clobbered

I've solved the file locking problem I wrote about by copying /var/mail/user somewhere else and then copying it back when I'm done, which works fine. However, I have a new problem: I have a folder of archived mail called 'received', which is just a symlink to received-2004-Q4. (The symlink is updated via a cron job once every three months.) When I open the folder 'received' and change it, when it gets written back to disk, the symlink is clobbered and I end up with 'received' being an actual file, not a symlink to received-2004-Q4. Is there some way to get Mail::Box to respect my symlink? Thanks, Dan -- Ceci n'est pas une .signature.
