maildir (?) to mbox

I have about 14K files that I need to get into mbox format to see if 
there is anything worth saving. These files (I think) were all created 
by Kmail.

Here is a small sampling of the filenames:

/sent-mail/cur/1059161393.29444.cvoc:2,S
/sent-mail/cur/1059161436.29444.JH0I:2,S
/sent-mail/cur/1059161521.29444.VaWW:2,S
/sent-mail/cur/1059167928.29444.3ryt:2,S
/sent-mail/cur/1059167952.29444.4JQ0:2,S
/sent-mail/cur/1059167963.29444.tYk9:2,S
/sent-mail/cur/1059170294.29444.JZv5:2,S


If I look at any one of these files with vi, aside from any attachments, 
it is plain text.

I don't really want to re-invent the wheel here as this is a one-time 
shot and out of all of these 14K messages, there are likely less than 50 
that are worth keeping. Perhaps even less than that. Even if those were 
lost, it would not be an earthshaking event.

My thinking was I could read each of these files and write it to one 
large file (which I have done), then stick that in ~/mail and 
Thunderbird would read it. This was not the case, Thunderbird doesn't 
like it and complains:

"imap(cajun): File isn't in mbox format: /home/cajun/mail/XXXX"

I've looked at the many Mail::Box modules and am pretty overwhelmed by 
all the variations.

Is what I'm trying to do not practical? As I said, there's likely very 
little in these files worth preserving.

If there is a better way to accomplish this, I'd be interested in 
hearing that as well. I'm not stuck on reading them with Tbird.

Any pointers or guidance is appreciated.
