some questions about Mail::Box

I'm giving a big "email in Perl" talk at YAPC, and I wanted to check a few
facts.  This may be the first in a few posts:

Mail::Box-Overview says:

  This code is beta, which means that there are no serious applications written
  with it yet. Please inform the author when you have, so this module can be
  marked as stable. Read the STATUS file enclosed in the package for more
  details. You may also want to have a look at the sample scripts in the
  scripts directory.

Is this still true?  It's been in development for an awful long time, for
nothing serious to be done with it.  I couldn't find a STATUS file in the dist.

How does one use IMAP over SSL?  My understanding is that I'll need to
construct my own IMAPClient using an SSL socket, then pass it as imap_client to
my transport or mailbox.
