RE: best image format for pdf question

Noting that I have no idea exactly what you are doing.

I think the choice of image format should be more based on the image and
output quality needed. PDF handles the mentioned formats just fine, to the
best of my knowledge.

Unless you are scanning at a very high resolution and printing at a very
high resolution JPG is probably your best choice.

 

JPG tends to have a much smaller file size.

I am scanning images (which are patient documents) and
placing the images in a pdf I create with pdf::api2. 
Is there an image format that would work the best? 
Ive tried jpeg, tiff, and png. They all work fine. 
But I was wondering if there is a "native" format that
pdf uses? Not native but a format the pdf likes best.
