Before anything else, I'll also join the number of people thanking you
for your hard work and for the great amount of planning, knowledge and
sweat that you evidently put into PDF::API2.

Sadly, neither I can offer to take it over, nor even to try to
understand some bits of the black magic that makes PDF::API2 what it
is now. I thought only it could be benefical if you included a notice
stating the project seeks a new maintainer either in the distribution
itself or in the SF site. I see that the (also in SF)
PDF::API2::Simple [1] project belongs to "Red Tree Systems" [2] -
possibly, as they developed a tool that depends on this one and
promote Open Source development as part of their company activities
[3] they could take over the main module as well...
