Configuration option for using case-insensitive variable names

Hello,

Is there a configuration option for allowing case-insensitive variable 
names? The ANYCASE configuration option only allows the directives to be 
of mixed case. I was looking for something similar but for the variables 
themselves. If it doesn't exist, maybe it would be something useful to add.
