* Perl at large.

First, news of a release for users of MacPerl: 5.6.1r2 came out 
late last week, and is currently on CPAN. Notable enhancements 
include a major update to Shuck and many improvements to the Mac:: 
modules, including some Mac::Glue support for users of Classic 
under Mac OS X:

And on a vaguely similar theme, users of the delapidated Gtk+ 1 
Perl bindings will be pleased to note the appearance of a release 
of the Gtk+ 2.0 library: it's been done using the fantastic

Oh, and if that isn't enough, ActivePerl 5.8.0 is out; this is

It's been a busy week in the Perl 6 world, with lots of work on 
the IMCC intermediate compiler, as well as on what string literals 
and string escapes will look like, and much discussion of built-in
