More YAPC news: YAPC::Europe has set its dates and locations. 
It'll be held in the CNAM Conservatory in Paris from July 23 to 25. 
I will be there! Get your papers and presentations in now. And of 
course, it's time to get submissions in for OSCON/TPC, also in 
July.

Perl 6 development rolls on! The interminable thread on the ~> 
and <~ operators still claims many victims, while interesting 
things have been happening with the bytecode and packfile 
formats. Brent Dax wants to turn "if" and "else" into functions; 
Michael Lazzaro wants to know when the colon does what; and Piers 
himself starts a discussion of the multimethod dispatch.

Earlier in the month, we had an article from Dave Rolsky, one of 
the authors of O'Reilly's new "Embedding Perl in HTML with Mason" 
book; recently that book arrived on my desk, and I decided to put 
it through its paces. Mason is my favorite environment for

Screen-scraping with WWW::Mechanize

a usually visual task - like a web site - and then dealing with
