bringing you the latest goings-on from the world of Perl and our 
own site.

As usual, conference news: the Copenhagen Perl Workshop has been 
renamed to the Scandinavian Perl Workshop, thanks to interest 
from Stockholm.pm, and the dates have changed to April 25-26, 
2003. Meanwhile, the German Perl Workshop takes place next week 
in Bonn. It's not too late to register:

And finally, (since there's apparently still little happening 
out there...) Perl programmers in Buffalo, New York will be 
pleased to hear of a Mongers group started by the intrepid Kevin

"Genomic Perl" is a book I've been looking forward to for a long 
time.  James Tisdall's "Beginning Perl for Bioinformatics" taught 
biologists the basics of Perl; now Rex Dwyer's new book claims to 
teach programmers the basics of genetics. I take a look at it in 
this month's book review:
