bringing you the latest goings-on from the world of Perl and our

* Perl at large.

Another Perl Conference comes with yet another set of Active 
Awards-- ActiveState's chance for you to recognize the people who 
have made significant contributions to Perl, PHP, Python, Tcl, and 
XSLT. The ActiveState programmers will also be picking out their 
favorites, and the results will be announced at the Open Souce 
Convention in July:

The various Perl monger groups in Italy have decided to federate 
into Perl Mongers Italia, and they held their first conference 
earlier this month.  If you're in Bologna, Pisa, Rome, or the

And finally, Andy Wardley, he of Template Toolkit, AppConfig, and 
other wonderous Perl modules, has got himself into the news recently. 
But not for Perl; instead, for his other obsession: kite flying.

Andy uses the Template Toolkit to design, lay out, and produce 
kites, and then goes off and flies them. "Wired Magazine" caught 
up with him and his latest design, the "giant flying bra:"

We can always rely on Brian Ingerson for cool new things, and he's 
struck again. After taking on XS, XML, and module versioning, he's 
here to tell us about his latest implementation--the Kwiki module 
for setting up extensible wikis quickly and painlessly:
