Either odd, or deeply traditional, if the author was a refugee from
Multics, which had '>' separators before anyone thought to use '/' (or gasp
'\' ), or its successor Stratus VOS, which followed suit.

Its other children, Unix, PRIMOS, and VMS, all did something else, of which
Unix's eventually won out.
