Anyone calling _dispatch_event() directly?

I'm considering breaking _dispatch_event() into different methods per  
event type.  Not all events need all of _dispatch_event(), and leaner,  
specific ones might be an improvement.  Consider this an alert in case  
the changes are worth releasing.

In an ideal world this shouldn't affect anyone.

In the real world it probably breaks someone's code.  Whose is it, and  
what can we do about that?
