1. On Monday I sent a sample solution for the regular quiz #7.
Unfortunately, I pasted in the wrong version of the program! The
version I had planned to send was a little easier to understand,
corrected a small bug, and, most important, was the one I discussed
in the rest of the message, which referred to variables and code
that weren't in the version that I actually sent.

   The correct version is at

        http://perl.plover.com/qotw/misc/r007/mjd.pl

Thanks to Doug Palmer for pointing this out.

2. QOTW will be on hiatus next week. I need to catch up on work, and
I also haven't written the talk I am supposed to deliver to the
Philadelphia Linux User's Group tomorrow evening. Also I will be
out of town between Friday and Monday. That means that the next
quiz will be posted on December 11 instead of on December 4.

3. I would like to obtain translations of the QOTW web page into more
languages. If you are interested in providing one, please see

        http://perl.plover.com/qotw/translations.html

and then please contact me before beginning work.

4. At least two people have had a peculiar problem unsubscribing from
the mailing list. The problem was this: They were subscribed to
both perl-qotw and perl-qotw-discuss. They were getting too much
mail, so they decided to unsubscribe. They unsubscribed from
perl-qotw. They continued to get too much mail because they were
   still subscribed to perl-qotw-discuss.

Then they got upset and hollered WHY AM I STILL GETTING MAIL? I
ALREADY UNSUBSCRIBED AND NOTHING HAPPENED. YOUR MAILING LIST
   SOFTWARE IS BROKEN!!!!

Does anyone have any useful suggestion about how to make these
people's problems smaller in the future? If so, please contact me.

By the way, instructions for unsubscribing are at

        http://perl.plover.com/qotw/

Thank you all for your interest.
