As I'm in the UK and as it appears that govtalk is the standard way to
talk to UK government systems
<http://www.govtalk.gov.uk/schemasstandards/schemasstandards.asp>, I
took a little more time to learn a tiny bit. I think it would be really
useful if whatever interface is produced can find it's way to CPAN - it
would be of significant value to the perl community in the UK.

One other thing I came across is a PHP API to govtalk that includes the
Companies House interface. I don't know how much there is to learn from
it but it seems to include some useful real-world-experience comments,
for example.
