  This is a very helpful hint. It surely would work if you have
  word. With certain Asian scripts, where characters are just placed
  without word borders, it would require further thinking. I have
  this stuff on the loose in my data ;-(.

  But, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, having a
  configurable maxvars would surely be the pride and joy of
  XML::LibXSLT ;-) I would surely contribute to the effort,
  but I hasten to add I have never patched a CPAN module.
