If anyone is interested, I’ve also spent a fair amount of time making a proper package for pkgsrc and have prepared some binary packages from it. If you’re using NetBSD or a system with pkgsrc/pkgin installed such as SmartOS/Solaris, MacOSX, Linux (el6/el7 or NetBSD, feel free to have a look:

If you want to build the package manually, the package files are here: 

pike8.0.tar.gz <http://bill.welliver.org/dist/pike/pkgsrc/pike8.0.tar.gz>

Just untar this file into you pkgsrc/lang directory and do a “bmake package”. I find that it helps to have the prerequisites already installed, otherwise pkgsrc will try to build them all from source.

My goal is to get this package added to the pkgsrc repository; if anyone knows a NetBSD developer, please let me know! As always, comments and suggestions are welcome.
