Due to the fact that I originally scheduled Prothon assuming that there would be other programmers helping me by now, I am pushing out the schedule. The release date of the first 1.0 production version of Prothon is moving from October 2004 to January 2005. The Prothon home page has been updated to the following: 8/1/2004: Freeze core language specs (keywords, etc.). 9/1/2004: Alpha version 1.0. All 1.0 features except performance and just-in-time interpreter. 12/1/2004: Beta version 1.0. All features including JIT for x86 platform. 1/1/2005: Final production release version 1.0 Note that the alpha release has been expanded to include a new garbage collector with unique outstanding features. See the mailing list. This will cause up to a month's delay because there will be a rewrite of a lot of code, but it will be worth it and it is better to get it over with now. The code will end up with a better structure as a fringe benefit.
