Proposal for mailing list versus wiki

Can I propose that the mailing list is best for random back and forth
discussion and that the wiki is best for gathering up consensus or
having a stable URL for the latest version of proposals.

One thing that makes me prefer the mailing list for random chit chat is
that it is indexed by Google and a year from now it will be very easy to
see why we came the decisions we did. Once we "clean up" the wiki with
our latest and greatest ideas, most of the historical information will
be hidden from Google.

If I were implementing a wiki-like concept I'd have separate concepts
for discussions versus the actual text of the page being
edited/discussed. Oops. I forgot. That's my day job.
