Why don't we just offer a Python interpreter as an extension module which allows to run Python scripts? Simple objects like strings, lists and tuples could be converted for parameterisation, and a way to call an arbitrary Python function could not be that complicated. Then you can provide wrappers for almost all of the library stuff and build "your" library in very small time, maybe adjusting the user interface to the functions already in a prothonic way. Then, piece by piece, the modules can be translated and improved.
