Yes. isopen is just fine.

Shrek! Have you seen it, meanwhile? If so, I'd accept the shriek
as well.

This is all minor syntactic stuff. The main question is, after you
had added lots of salt and taste, shrieks and ?-marks and whatelse,
*do you still eat your own dog-food?"
If so, fine. If not, core melting ALERT.

After reading amost all of what you have, in written and in coding
(very well, of course, real style), I still can't buy into the
language. Someting is missing. Maybe it is called "appeal", I don't
know.
My personal excuse to continue using Python for my recent
projects is that I managed to get Psyco to collaborate with Stackless.
Maybe this is a very good reason. :-)
