You know, if you're not pleased with Xojo's move, there are free lists out there (freelists.org being one) that would allow you to start a list and manage it the way that you like ... This whole things sounds like much ado about nothing. Oh, and the unsubscribe link is at the bottom of each email. Just one guy's opinion.
