In case this is of interest and anyone would want to sign on, I have 
filed a bug report about this:

Apps built with 64 bit Xojo will crash on linux systems with MATE if 
they include printing code. It appears to be g.OpenPrinter that causes 
the crash.

Feedback  number is 51975.
