Re: Cast of Characters and Credit

The credits issue is always a tricky one for collaboratively-authored
documents.

When I write a chunk of documentation from scratch, I add my name as the
author on the front page along with the usual copyright and licensing
statement and references to related standards. When I merely contribute
improvements to someone else's existing documentation, I don't add my name.

Of course, there are those awkward cases where the existing documentation
isn't much of a starting point, but it does technically exist.
