Eine weitere Möglichkeit (so mach ich's mit eigenen Bibliotheken):
Die Shell-Variable $RUBYLIB anpassen. In meiner ~/.bashrc steht

export RUBYLIB=$RUBYLIB:~/prj/ruby/libs

und in dieses Verzeichnis kopier' ich die meine eigenen Libraries.
