I put Kernel-dtl.1683 in the inbox to help move this issue forward. This
restores class BrokenPromise and makes no other changes. I put this in
the inbox as a convenience so that other folks will not need to go fish
it out of the update stream.

I have NOT tested this and I do not know if it will resolve the issue
for Git Browser.

Can someone with Git Browser experience please try loading
Kernel-dtl.1683 from the inbox, and see if it is sufficient to get the
Git Browser working again?

Thanks,
Dave
