Have you considered trying to link against WineLib?  Since that would
provide you with (most of) a Win32 API under Linux, I'd think that
that would give you most of the GUI for free.

(It's probably more complicated than that--I'm not an expert in either
WineLib or Strongtalk internals--but if you haven't already ruled it
out, I'd think that avenue would be worth investigating.)
