What is wrong with the SQLight?

It meets all of your requirements, except being RDBMS?

No extra installs, is supported by the VW vendor, runs on all
platforms, etc.

I recall OmniBase for example
but not sure if that's currently the best thing
going or if it breaks in 9.3 . I don't want to
use Mongo for this particular project and thus
the request.
