I also recommend SQLite. It meets all your requirements. And, by using Glorp you get rid of the “relationalivity”.

The last version of OmniBase available from the Public Store is from 2006, i.e. probably developed with VisualWorks 7.4. This version was shipped in the “contributed” section of VisualWorks up to 7.10.1. The “Personell” example doesn’t work since it uses the Notebook widget. I don’t know whether the base code works with current VisualWorks. David Gorisek, the developer and IP owner seems to no longer distribute, maintain and support OmniBase. Even more, the license situation is unclear. There are two conflicting license texts in the parcel comment and in the readme.txt file.

Without knowing the specifics of your project, you might also want to take a look at the “ISAM Toolbox” distributed with Cincom Smalltalk in the “contributed/Heeg” section.

Your description seems to almost fit with Embarcadero's Interbase, however, I'm not sure if there's still a parcel for binding this DB in recent versions of VW.

So no "have you tried BOSS" pls :)
I recall OmniBase for example but not sure if that's currently the best thing going or if it breaks in 9.3 . I don't want to use Mongo for this particular project and thus the request.
