Looking at the website, Onto are the merger of Nanometrics and Rudolph. I don’t know anything about Nanometrics, but Rudolph bought Texas Instruments ControlWORKS distributed Smalltalk for waver production machine control. Lam Research, amongst others, sources ControlWORKS from Rudolph.  Rudolph were Austrian (IIRC) and the company is headquartered in Wilmington Mass.

My guess is that they’re transitioning from Smalltalk to C#.
