Building CML after bootstrapping?

I've just finished compiling and bootstrapping to a fixed point a modified version of SML/NJ, but I can't seem to figure what I should be doing to use this new compiler to rebuild CML. I tried adding information about cml.cm into base/system/pathconfig, but it still complains that it doesn't know anything about the $cml anchor, which is used as part of cml.cm itself.
