I should also mention the other major library that comes with SML/NJ, which is the SMLNJ Library. See http://www.smlnj.org/doc/smlnj-lib/index.html. Unfortunately, the online documentation is incomplete, so in some cases you will need to look at the module signature source code for the documentation (at least the signatures are commented, so you don't need to read the implementation code!).
