I have generated binding for Xlib (altough you don't make a very fancy
GUI with that) with ml-nlffi-gen. That was quite simple, but I had to
make a few tweaks to headers to make it work. Maybe you can try how
ml-nlffi-gen handles GTK.

AFAIK, NLFFI only works in newer versions and on some Unix platfroms.
Config file says NLFFI only works in x86-linux but I have also used it
in x86-netbsd.
