Shouldn't it ? After all if it is unix, then stderr should always be there. It also provides the appropriate mechanism to monitor exec'd applications for errors. Just wondering. I looked through unix.sml and there does not seem to be any reason it couldn't be added. Is there some particular reason it's not there ? I was thinking that I could simply take unix.sml and add it. Would that be something useful to add back to the library ?
